I am also a trained martial artist and currently hold a black belt in Shaolin Kung Fu under the Shaolin Temple Cultural Center, studying under various masters that come from the Shaolin Temple. While the belt system is not traditional in the Shaolin Temple, the warrior monks of the Shaolin Temple in China were given a decree from the Abbot to teach traditional style Shaolin to the west over a decade ago. I also offer QI Gong as a wellness service. While this isn’t considered psychotherapy, it is one of my skills that I can bring to your treatment and one that I have a passion for to bring many benefits to your healing journey.
In addition to traditional therapy approaches, I also practice Qi Gong, an ancient Chinese mind-body practice that combines gentle movement, breathing techniques, and meditation. Qi Gong helps me stay grounded, centered, and present—qualities I bring into my work with clients. It’s a powerful way to reduce stress, calm the nervous system, and cultivate inner balance, which complements my therapeutic approach, especially when working with anxiety, trauma, and emotional regulation.
While not a form of psychotherapy, Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese healing practice that I personally use to support my own well-being and presence as a therapist. It involves gentle, flowing movements, focused breathing, and mindfulness to help cultivate balance and calm in the mind and body.
Though it’s not a clinical intervention, Qi Gong can offer a range of benefits that complement the therapeutic process, such as:
• Reduced stress and anxiety
• Improved emotional regulation
• Increased body awareness
• Enhanced energy and vitality
• Greater mental clarity and focus
